It is possible for up to four players to play in wireless mode using only one game card. Its functions include touch control, microphone control and dual-screen challenges. It includes more than 70 new minigames and five new game boards. This Mario Party game is unique for having the characters to be shrunken down to a very small size and competing in a "mega world" for the majority of the game. This is the last Mario Party game to be developed by Hudson Soft, which was succeeded by NDcube in 2012. Mario Party DS is the fourteenth installment in the Mario Party series, the third for handheld consoles, and the only one for the Nintendo DS.
